DEFECTIVE CAR SEATS HARM CHILDREN
|
The attorneys at the Matthews & Fullmer Law Firm are dedicated to improving safety for children. There has been an alarming
increase in the number of serious injuries to children in car wrecks, even though the children are restrained in car seats,
convertible seats, booster seats or infant carriers. Child safety seats should be designed to protect children from injury
or death during collisions. Tragically, many of these "safety" seats fail to protect children in collisions, resulting in
serious injuries to children.
|
|
As parents, you work hard to protect your children from injury. After all, that's why you purchased and installed the car
seat in your vehicle in the first place. You want to make certain that your child is safe in the event you are involved in
a car wreck.
|
|
Unfortunately, some manufacturers of car seats don't seem to care about your child's
safety. Some manufacturers produce car seats that have not yet been adequately tested, contain sub par materials, have a
history of failing in "real world" collisions, or have instructions and warnings that are incomprehensible and useless.

If your child has been injured in a collision even though the child was properly secured in a safety seat, ask yourself:
1. Did any of the material comprising the car seat tear, rip or
fail in some respect?
2. Was the car seat in which your child was injured recalled by
the manufacturer, but you failed to receive any notification
from the manufacturer?
3. Did the car seat lack clear instructions?
4. Did the car seat lack clear and easy to understand warning
labels?
5. Was the car seat designed defectively such that your child
was injured as a result of the defect?
6. Were you told by an investigator or police officer that your
childs injuries were caused or made worse by the car seat?
If you answered any of these questions with a "YES," then you may have a defective car seat that caused your child's injuries.
You should contact an attorney today to assist you with the proper investigation, development and prosecution of your claim.
