TOYOTA PRIUS BRAKE FAILURE

Car Safety Issues, Car Wrecks - Houston Lawyers Who Can Help

Toyota’s recent acknowledgement that there are problems with the brakes on one of its highest profile vehicles is creating a tremendous crisis of confidence.

The Japanese automaker's quality control problems have now expanded to include its prized Prius, with reports about faulty brakes on the gas-electric hybrid that Toyota had touted as an example of its cutting edge technology.

Japanese authorities have ordered Toyota to investigate complaints about sluggish brakes on some models of the Prius, which went on sale in Japan and the United States in May, 2009, adding to the companies' woes following massive recalls and plant shutdowns related to a sticky accelerator in a number of its North American models.

U.S. lawmakers who are now digging into the recalls say they would look into the Prius, too.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received more than 100 complaints about the brakes in the latest Prius model. Two of those complaints involved crashes that resulted in injuries.
